Donate to Win *UPDATED

Written By Nate
On April 5th 2014 at RetroGamersUnite, we will be accepting food and clothing donations for Lighthouse Mission, Winnipeg's longest running homeless shelter. In exchange for your donations, you will receive tickets for every donation towards our awesome charity silent auction, the more your bring, the more you get! We've had to limit tickets given to a maximum to 20 tickets per person. There are some guidelines, but just remember the spirit of why we are doing this, to help our city's less fortunate and make a difference.

A Sample of some of the prizes, this was donated by PNP Games.
Prizes include many Retro Video Game Console Packages, Consoles by Hyperkin, artwork from ChasingArtwork and other great prizes from our many sponsors, vendors and friends! Check it out April 5th. Get a "Big Heart" bonus for extra tickets! (CLICK HERE FOR AN UPDATE PRIZE LIST)

How Does it Work?
-Donations will be accepted at our EVENTS table on April 5th and inspected by our staff. Only those items specified will be accepted. You will receive tickets proportional to the quality and amount of donations you bring. You will then choose which prizes you want to put your tickets towards. Draws will be made at 6:00pm, although this may change the day of the event. We've limited tickets awarded for donations to 20 tickets per person.

  • Ticket Proportion Guidelines
    1 Item = 1 Ticket

The "BIG HEART" Bonus
We'll be awarding extra tickets for those with "big hearts". For each "grocery bag" amount worth of donations, you will receive 4 extra tickets in addition to tickets awarded for each item to help you reach the 20 ticket maximum!

A "Grocery Bag" sized donation is subjective, but as a general guideline, the following would be considered "grocery bag sized amount":

  • A Winter Jacket
  • 2 Sweaters
  • 4 - 5 grocery items

What can I bring?
-No fresh food, only canned and/or packaged food. Clothing donations must be washed and good condition clothing. All items will be inspected by staff for acceptance. It may go without saying, but no expired or opened food either.

Do I have to be present to win?
-NO! Although you can stay to see if you win, you can write your name on the back of your tickets with contact info and we will contact you the next day for a pickup at a later time! Make sure not to loose your ticket!

If you have any other questions, please email us at retrogamerswinnipeg@hotmail.com

Some details or regulations may change the day of the event at the discretion of our staff! All donations will be made to Lighthouse Mission and other non-profit charities as needed. All items accepted or tickets allocated are at the discretion of RGCW Staff. Guidelines may change without notice.
